39C hinges have manual height adjustment. (Loosen the frame attachment xxxx , make adjustment and hold while retightening the xxxx ) 31C hinges are Blum's new Compact Clip series. They are offered with pre-mounted xxxx for the frame and that xxxx is installed one time and no longer needs to be loosened and retightened. They now have all three dimensions of adjustment made with the cam system and also have a a "clip" base that allows for removal by lever disconnect.
