Self-close hinges are hinges that have the spring close action at approximately 2" to 3" from closure. Doors with self-close hinges can be slammed. Soft-close hinges still have the same spring close feature...however, at that point of closure, there is a dampener added to the hinge that closes the door slowly. Doors with soft-close hinges can no longer be slammed.
