This system is designed for install in cabinets with shelves. One shelf would install to the bottom of the cabinet and the other on a mid-shelf. There is no center steel rod for this type of set up. NOTE: This type of set-up is designed for install as the cabinet is built. These CANNOT be installed in existing cabinetry or already installed cabinets without access through the top of the cabinet priot to counter top installation.
