To measure for hinge overlay size, close the cabinet door and measure how far it overlaps the cabinet frame—this is the overlay. Use a ruler to measure from the edge of the door to the edge of the cabinet opening. Common overlays are ½ inch, ⅝ inch, and full overlay.
