That is the thickness of the base plate, for example, If you are using a full overlay hinge, when you pair it with a 0mm base plate, you will get 18mm over lay, when you pair it with a 3mm base plate, you will get 15mm overlay and when you pair it with a 6mm base plate, you will get 12mm overlay. (these measurements are all based on the tab distance)
