The four main types of wood moldings and trim are crown molding, baseboard, casing, and chair rail. Crown molding decorates the top edge of walls or cabinets, baseboards finish the wall-to-floor transition, casing surrounds doors and windows, and chair rails protect walls while adding a decorative horizontal line.
