Edge mount hinges are for face frames with narrower or thicker frames that are not 3/4" thick. The hinge is attached to the side edge, ideal for refacing; whereas wraparound hinges have a leaf that physically wraps around the face frame, best for standard 3/4" face frames to provide stability.
