The general rule for door hinges is to use one hinge per 30 inches of door height, with a minimum of three hinges for standard interior doors. Place the top hinge 5 inches from the top and the bottom hinge 10 inches from the bottom. Add a fourth hinge for doors over 80 inches tall or solid-core doors.
