A safe RPM for a flap disc is the maximum RPM rating printed on the disc label, typically 10,000 to 13,300 RPM for a 4-1/2 inch disc. Never exceed the manufacturer’s rated speed. Always match the disc’s RPM rating to or above the grinder’s no-load RPM.
