It is not meant to be hung that way. The trim would interfere with the top of the hood

I'm looking to do crown moulding around the ceiling of the whole kitchen and want to add a small shelf at the trim level if I'm able to hang it upside down. Also does the trim come off so you can fit it to the upper cabinets?
