Grab bars should be installed near the toilet, inside the shower, and along the bathtub wall to support balance and transfers. Install horizontal bars 33–36 inches above the floor in most residential bathrooms. Secure grab bars into wall studs or approved anchors to support at least 250–500 pounds safely.
