The main difference between spiral and straight flush trim bits is cut quality, chip removal, and finish. Spiral flush trim bits shear wood fibers with an up-cut or down-cut pattern, which produces cleaner edges and faster chip evacuation. Straight flush trim bits cost less and work well for basic trimming, but they tear out more easily.
