Use engraving bits that match the material, detail level, and tool speed. V-bits from 30–90 degrees work well for lettering and sign carving. Ball nose and tapered bits handle contours and fine detail. Carbide burrs cut metal, while diamond bits engrave glass, stone, and ceramic with cleaner results.
